Mummy’s Fables is the trading name of Mel Scott-Avis, based in the United Kingdom.
We create and promote children’s books, author visits, storytelling sessions, educational resources and related creative content designed to entertain, inspire and support meaningful discussion with children.

2. Definitions
In these Terms & Conditions:
“Mummy’s Fables”, “we”, “us” or “our” refers to Mummy’s Fables, the trading name of Mel Scott-Avis.
“Website” refers to www.mummysfables.com and any pages, content, resources or forms available through it.
“You” or “your” refers to anyone using the website, making an enquiry, downloading resources, arranging an author visit, or interacting with Mummy’s Fables.
“Author visits”, “workshops” or “sessions” refers to any in-person or virtual storytelling session, school visit, nursery visit, library event, workshop, assembly, creative activity or related enrichment session provided by Mummy’s Fables.
“Setting” refers to any school, nursery, library, early years setting, educational organisation or community venue booking or enquiring about a visit.
“Resources” refers to any downloadable, printable or digital materials provided by Mummy’s Fables, including posters, leaflets, worksheets, session plans or activity materials.
3. Intellectual Property
“Mummy’s Fables” is a registered UK trademark. The name, brand identity, associated logos and artwork are legally protected and may not be used without written permission.
All content on this website, including text, illustrations, photographs, graphics, downloadable resources, design elements and branding, is owned by or licensed to Mummy’s Fables and is protected by copyright law.
You may not copy, reproduce, adapt, distribute, publish, sell or use any content from this website for commercial purposes without prior written permission.
Downloadable materials provided by Mummy’s Fables, such as posters, leaflets, session materials or printable resources, are for personal, educational or internal school use only, unless otherwise agreed in writing.
4. Website Information
Mummy’s Fables works hard to keep the information on this site accurate and up to date, but cannot guarantee that it will always be entirely free from errors.
From time to time, Mummy’s Fables may make changes to the website, update content, amend pricing, remove sections or alter the services offered.
Mummy’s Fables may also update these Terms & Conditions. When this happens, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new “last updated” date.
5. Book Sales and Third-Party Retailers
At present, Mummy’s Fables products are sold through trusted third-party retailers such as Amazon, IngramSpark and other booksellers.
When you click to purchase a book or any other product, you may be taken to the relevant third-party website. The sale, including payment, delivery, cancellations, returns, refunds and customer service, is handled entirely by that retailer under its own terms and conditions.
Because Mummy’s Fables does not directly handle these transactions, Mummy’s Fables is not able to process or approve returns or refunds.
If you have a problem with your order, or if you wish to return an item, you will need to contact the retailer you purchased from and follow its returns policy.
Mummy’s Fables recommends checking the retailer’s terms carefully before placing an order.
6. Third-Party Links
From time to time, the website may include links to other websites, retailers, platforms or resources. These are provided for convenience or to give additional information about Mummy’s Fables and related work.
Mummy’s Fables does not control third-party websites and is not responsible for their content, privacy practices, terms of use, availability or any purchases made through them.
Clicking a link to a third-party website is at your own discretion.
7. Author Visits, Workshops and Events
Mummy’s Fables offers author visits, storytelling sessions, workshops and creative enrichment sessions for schools, nurseries, libraries, early years settings and similar educational or community settings.
These sessions may include live storytelling, author-led discussion, role-play, interactive activities, Q&A sessions, creative tasks and curriculum-linked learning outcomes.
Sessions are designed to inspire and engage children through storytelling, creativity and discussion. They are enrichment sessions and are not intended to replace curriculum-based teaching.
Mel Scott-Avis is not a qualified teacher. A member of staff from the setting must remain present and responsible for pupils or children at all times.
8. Suitability and Adaptation of Sessions
Author visits and workshops can be adapted to suit different age groups, settings, timetables and curriculum needs, including EYFS, KS1 and KS2 where appropriate.
While every effort will be made to tailor the session to the agreed brief, the final content, structure and activities may vary depending on the age group, group size, time available, space, resources and the needs of the children on the day.
Where other books or stories are introduced as part of a session, they will be selected to support the relevant theme or learning focus. A reading list can be provided in advance for approval, if required.
9. Packages, Pricing and Bespoke Visits
Example author visit packages and prices may be displayed on the Mummy’s Fables website or in downloadable information packs.
These packages are provided as examples and may be adapted depending on the setting, timetable, number of pupils, age groups, location, resources required and agreed learning focus.
Bespoke packages can also be created. Any bespoke visit, workshop, mural-related project or creative session will be discussed and agreed in writing before the booking is confirmed.
Prices may be updated from time to time. The price agreed in writing at the point of booking will apply to that booking.
10. Availability and Booking Confirmation
Visits are subject to availability and are confirmed on a first-come, first-served basis.
A booking enquiry does not guarantee that a visit will take place.
A visit is only confirmed once written confirmation has been provided by Mummy’s Fables. This may be by email or another agreed written format.
The setting is responsible for checking that the details of the booking are correct, including date, time, location, year groups, session length, agreed fee and any practical requirements.
11. Location and Travel Expenses
In-person visits are available to schools, nurseries, libraries and early years settings within London, the Home Counties, and the South and West of England, subject to availability.
For settings beyond a reasonable distance from London, travel expenses may apply.
Mileage may be charged at £0.45 per mile for the round trip.
Any applicable travel expenses will be confirmed before the booking is finalised and will be included on the invoice.
Additional travel costs, such as train fares, parking, congestion charges, accommodation or other reasonable expenses, may also apply where relevant. These will be discussed and agreed in advance.
12. Payment Terms
Payment is made by invoice.
Invoices will usually be issued once the visit date has been confirmed, unless otherwise agreed in writing.
Payment is due within 14 days of the invoice date, or no later than the date of the visit, whichever comes first, unless alternative payment terms have been agreed in writing.
Payment can be made by bank transfer or payment card. Full payment details will be included on the invoice.
For bespoke sessions, larger bookings, mural-related projects, or bookings involving additional preparation, materials or external costs, a deposit may be required to secure the date.
Any agreed travel expenses will be included on the invoice.
13. Cancellations and Postponements
Mummy’s Fables understands that school and setting timetables can change and will aim to be flexible where possible.
If you need to cancel or postpone a confirmed visit, please give as much notice as possible.
Where a new date can be agreed, Mummy’s Fables will make every effort to reschedule the visit at a mutually convenient time.
If a visit is cancelled at short notice, a cancellation fee may apply, particularly where preparation time, materials, travel arrangements or other costs have already been incurred.
Any specific cancellation terms will be confirmed at the point of booking where relevant.
If Mummy’s Fables needs to postpone or cancel a visit due to illness, travel disruption or unforeseen circumstances, Mummy’s Fables will contact you as soon as possible and make every effort to rearrange the visit for a suitable alternative date.
14. Safeguarding and Supervision
Mel Scott-Avis holds an enhanced DBS certificate and has experience delivering workshops for children across EYFS, KS1 and KS2.
A member of staff from the setting must remain present and responsible for pupils or children at all times during the visit.
The setting remains responsible for safeguarding, behaviour management, first aid, medical needs and any individual support requirements during the visit.
Any specific safeguarding requirements, visitor procedures, sign-in processes, access arrangements or relevant policies should be communicated before or on arrival.
15. Photography, Video and Testimonials
Photos or videos may be requested during visits for use across Mummy’s Fables social media channels, website and marketing materials.
Photos or videos will only be taken or used with prior permission from the setting and in line with the setting’s safeguarding and photography policies.
Following a visit, Mummy’s Fables may ask whether the setting would be happy to provide a short testimonial or feedback for marketing purposes.
Providing a testimonial is entirely optional. Testimonials will only be used with permission.
16. Free or Promotional Author Visit Offers
From time to time, Mummy’s Fables may offer a limited number of free, discounted or promotional author visits.
Any such offer will be subject to availability, location, suitability and the specific terms stated at the time of the offer.
Promotional visits may be withdrawn or amended at any time without prior notice.
Travel expenses may still apply to free or discounted visits, and any applicable expenses will be confirmed before the booking is finalised.
A free or promotional visit is not confirmed until written confirmation has been provided by Mummy’s Fables.
Unless otherwise stated, free or promotional author visits are intended for educational and enrichment purposes only, and are not available for private parties or commercial events.
17. Resources and Downloadable Materials
Any downloadable resources, posters, leaflets, worksheets, session materials or other educational materials provided by Mummy’s Fables are intended for personal, educational or internal school use only.
They may not be sold, redistributed, republished, uploaded to third-party websites, altered for commercial use or presented as someone else’s work without written permission.
Settings may print and share these materials internally with staff, pupils and families where relevant to a Mummy’s Fables visit or activity.
18. Limitation of Liability
Mummy’s Fables takes reasonable care in operating this website and delivering its services, but cannot guarantee that the website will always be available or completely free from technical problems.
Mummy’s Fables will not be liable for any loss or damage that results from your use of this website, your reliance on information provided on the website, or purchases made through third-party retailers.
Mummy’s Fables will not be liable for any indirect, consequential or incidental loss.
Nothing in these Terms & Conditions excludes or limits liability where it would be unlawful to do so, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
19. Governing Law
These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
Any disputes relating to these terms, the Mummy’s Fables website, or services provided by Mummy’s Fables will be dealt with in the courts of England and Wales.
